직업인으로서의 삶을 예술로 선택하고 뛰어들었을 때, 이미 이곳은 레드 오션이었다. 

실력이 뛰어나고 유명한 작가님들이 너무 많았다. ‘내가 잘할 수 있을까?’ 하는 고민은 자꾸 열등감을 만들어냈고, 

결국 ‘잘할 수 없다.’ 라는 자조적인 대답을 내어놓기도 했다. 

하지만 작품을 향한 열망은 타인과의 비교 앞에서도 자꾸 작업할 원동력을 만들어주었다. 

타인보다 잘 할 수 없다면 나는 나 자신만의 것을 만들기로 했다.
나만 할 수 있고, 아무도 따라 할 수 없는 것.

그래피티였다.

사람들이 보통의 재료로 그림을 그린다면, 

나는 그림을 그리기 시작했을 때부터 계속 사용해왔던 스프레이를 주재료로 선택해 낙서를 하면서 느낀 희열을 캔버스에 채웠다. 낙서하는 순간만큼은 타인과의 비교나 생계를 향한 고민, 복잡하고 부정적인 생각을 지울 수 있었다. 

낙서는 내 작품 활동의 시발점이자 내 존재의 이유이며, 내 삶 그 자체다.
자유로운 낙서를 캔버스에 표현하는 이 과정은 내가 ‘성스러운 보호구역’ 안에서 나만의 ‘유일한 일’을 하는 것처럼 느끼게 해주었다. 그래서 이 시리즈의 이름은 Sanctuary다.

그래피티 작가로 활동하며 길거리의 대중들과 소통할 수 있었다.

그 활동을 캔버스로 옮긴 Sanctuary 시리즈를 통해 길거리의 낙서 문화를 담은 작업을 선보이는 것으로 1차 목표를 달성했다. 이제는 단순한 낙서 문화에서 더 넓은 영역으로 소통하고자 한다.

Sanctuary 시리즈는 앞으로 한국의 대중문화, 한국 문화의 현 상황을 담는 큰 그릇이 될 것이다.

When I chose my life as a professional artist and jumped in, this was already the Red Ocean. 
There were so many talented and famous writers. The concern of "Can I do well?" kept creating a sense of inferiority, 
In the end, he gave a self-help answer, 'I can't do well.' 
However, the desire for work gave me the driving force to continue to work even in front of comparison with others. 
If I can't do better than others, I decided to make my own.
Something only I can do, and no one can copy.
It was graffiti.

If people draw with ordinary materials, 
I filled the canvas with the joy I felt while scribbling by choosing a spray that I had been using since I started painting. At the moment I scribbled, I was able to erase comparisons with others, worries about earning a living, and complicated and negative thoughts. 
Doodles are the starting point of my work, the reason for my existence, and my life itself.
This process of expressing free graffiti on canvas made me feel like I was doing my own "only thing" inside the "Sacred Reservation." So the series is called Sanctuary.

Working as a graffiti writer, I was able to communicate with the public on the street.
Through the Sanctuary series, which translates the activity into canvas, the primary goal was achieved by presenting work that contains street graffiti culture. Now, I want to communicate in a wider area from a simple graffiti culture.
The Sanctuary series will be a big vessel for the current situation of Korean pop culture and Korean culture in the future.
